Hello. Formal Complaint At the Gt Yarmouth & Waveney CCG meeting at Beccles House on 25th September at 13.30, you approved your recommendations for changes to the Carlton Court Mental Health Services. Among the changes is action to remove the Acute Mental Health Services from Carlton Court to Northgate Hospital, Gt Yarmouth. That action will discriminate against the people of Lowestoft with mental health problems or caring for those with mental health problems, causing them, as a result, to have to travel many miles more than the people of Gt Yarmouth to engage with their Mental Heath Services. This means you are treating those in Lowestoft less favourably that those in Gt Yarmouth which is a breach of the Equality Act 2010 sections 13 (1) and 149 (1) ((a and ((b)). Norfolk HealthWatch AGM at the Curve, Norwich, 22nd September2014 .

 The AGM was Chaired by William Armstrong the ex Norfolk Coroner. The first speaker was Doeuke Doebma the owner of Clinks Care Farm who gave a comprehensive account of care farms in general and a special account of his own organisation. The special guest speaker was Norman Lamb who, after a matey exchange with the Chair about their early mutual experiences as lawyers in London, gave his usual warm, slithey and near meaningless talk about how the government are doing everything to improve and advance mental health services. Time came for questions from the floor and, unusually I was chosen for the first one. I asked Norman Lamb: “How do you reconcile your glowing rhetoric with the fact that no actions to implement it are taking place and the government is continuing to make swingeing cuts in mental health?” In a blustered reply Mr Lamb just referred to what he had said in his talk. The next meeting of the Survivors History Group is on Wednesday 28.5.2014 at 1pm at Together, 12 Old Street, London. EC1V 9BE Everyone is very welcome. The agenda will be drawn up at the meeting (as usual), but will probably include a report from Peter Campell on his research. Peter Barham and Thurstine Basset will lead a discussion of art and mental health in relation to Vincent van Gogh (in particular) and art and mental health in any other way we chose. Sheila Beskine may be able to help us explore the richnesss of different ways of communicating. Andrew Roberts plans to get food and drink in for the meeting as usual and we are hoping that the usual surprises will also be pleasant ones (as they usually are). If anyone has ideas about what international survivors we could focus on at a forthcoming conference on the international survivor movement, please bring them along. No provisos, here in Norfolk we have a wonderful HERO. Emma is a UNISON officer. She is one of the mainstays of the practice led Mental Health Crisis Campaign (see the 4th December entry). One of the reasons the Campaign is beginning to achieve some success, she is an excellent public speaker. And passionate about her causes; at a recent NHS protection rally, in the middle of her speech she became choked up with emotion and broke off in tears - in my book an unfailing recommendation. She means it! she is genuine! County Councillor Corlett, for yes, as well as everything else, Emma is a Labour (Co-op) Norfolk County (NCC) Councillor. Well respected by her fellows, in the Council Chamber she has made her mark and her reputation in support of the Mental Health Crisis Campaign goes before her.
