Jasna Russo has written an important review of the book Patsy Staddon edited on "Mental Health Service Users in Research: Critical Sociological Perspectives" Policy Press. The review was published in Disability and Society and I am not allowed to circulate my downloaded copy to everyone on the list. I have copied the text of the review to you below. Some of you will have access by University libraries for an original copy, but most survivors will not. Mandy has managed to book the art area (Mezzanine) at Today (12 Old Street, London) for a Survivor History Group meeting on Wednesday 29.1.2014. We usually start at 1pm. I am hoping to get ready in the morning and then attend to something at Bunhill Quaker Meeting House between 12pm and 1pm. So we may start a little later than 1pm. Hopefully the food will be there and people can help themselves. There have been some interesting developments respecting the history of Eric Irwin (1924-1987), the main survivor founder of the Mental Patients Union in 1973, which I think we may want to talk about. I am trying to consolidate the material on our website by links from Eric's entry in People and Ideas at http://studymore.org.uk/bio.htm#EricIrwin Although there were almost? 100 mental patient founders of the MPU in March 1973, I have called Eric the main one in that he was the person with a long history of being a patient who was involved in the production of a pamphlet
