Some years back over the new mental health legislation I was in touch with the then Human Rights Committee and they struck as honest and straight and rightfully testing the government of the day. Yesterday I read this new report http://www.edf.org.uk/blog/government-memo-on-human-rights-and-the-welfare-reform-and-work-bill/ and was floored by its obsequiesness and readiness to make excuses for every breached Human Rights Act clause. The facile use of ‘proportionality’ and ‘reasonableness.’ is quite astounding. Read it and you’ll get you breath taken away as I did. Mike.
